Here's an update on my ongoing 1972 Honda CB100 rebuild/ restoration project. All that's left is an electrical re-wiring, lights, and a kick start spindle installation. Here are the before and after pictures. Enjoy!

So, I'm switching things up a bit. Today, I had an idea of creating a seat out of an old office chair. Going semi brat style with the bike and ditching the rear cowl.
First thing, rip off the old cushion and cut down the existing wood and cushion to shape which I will use later for the new seat pad.
I like this seat because of the natural front and rear coping it already has. It's definitely different than most and actually quite comfortable as well.
Next, I mounted my own brackets that match the bike's existing hard mounts. Had to bend and drill a few pieces out but it worked out perfect.
Mounted and stable! Next I'll be laying down the cushion and wrapping the leather for a tight new seat. Also, switched out the cafe bars for deeper chrome cafe bars. Stay tuned for more.

Today was a slow day but I got a few things done. I swapped out the bars, they're okay but I might use my deeper chrome cafe bars instead of these black ones. We'll see! I also finished the repair work on the tank & cowl and got to prime them as well. Other than that, I added a new all black Magura throttle lever & grips. Stay tuned for more.

Here's an update on my Honda CB100. I'm in the process of repairing the tank. It had a few dents on the left side of the tank. Possibly been dropped at one point. Anyhow, I layered up down some bondo glass to take care of that problem. After sanding and priming it's on to painting.
I also gutted out the old filter box and added a 45 degree angled open air filter.
My favorite part of today. I constructed a custom cafe seat rear cowl. I took an old gas tank that I had laying around and I cut it down to about a third of its size.
After sanding it down, I mocked it it up to see what it would look like. So far so good. Eventually, a custom padded seat will be in between the cowl and gas tank that I will fabricate as well.

Recently, my good friend Phill & I made an awesome deal. In trade, for a commissioned painting by me I got this vintage 1972 Honda CB100 as payment. It's by far the most appreciated form of payment I have ever received.
Phil has collected art pieces from me in the past and I am always thankful for his support & business. Like me he's an avid motorcycle enthusiast as well but also loves & understands art, he's a great chef, a good dude, and an awesome father to his son Noah! Anyhow, stay tuned for not only the re-build & restoration of this bike but also for the creation of the commissioned painting that I am going to create for him.
