IRON 833 12/15/2011
Recently, a friend of mine asked me to help custom a Harley Davidson bar clamp for his Iron 833 using an existing stock bar clamp. He basically wanted the speedo and bracket removed/ separated from the shift light indicator/ housing so he can re-mount the speedo in a more discreet area. Also, the point was to save the clamp by itself so he can add drag bars for a cleaner look. Check out the process! This is what the stock speedo bracket/ clamp would look like. Granted, this specific one has already been relocated as a whole and separated from the bar itself. This is more or less the product/ set up I am trying to create/ re-create. This bar clamp averages at a minimum of hundred dollars or so if bought from a retailer. 1. I had to cut and separate the speedo bracket from the shift light indicator/ housing. Also, had to add JB Weld to fill in the open gap at the top of the indicator. 2. I had to dremel out the inside of the housing to make sure the light fixture will fit back in properly. 3. I sanded everything down and smoothed out all the edges from the JB Weld as well. 4. I added spot putty to fill in tiny holes and gaps from the JB Weld and wet sanded it down. 5. Prime & paint.
